Payroll and Data Lead

Human Resources North Sydney Full-time Australia

Job Description

At JDE Peet’s, we’re driven by our passion for coffee, tea, and the moments that matter. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Payroll and Data Lead to join our HR team on a full-time contract position. This role can be based at our North Sydney or Banksmeadow offices, with at least one day per week in our North Sydney Head office, plus we support hybrid working arrangements.

As the Payroll and Data Lead, you will own the governance and delivery of local benefits, payroll, and people data reporting. You’ll work closely with external payroll providers and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations. You’ll also support key HR programs and provide workforce insights that guide strategic people decisions.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process through our external provider, including payroll tax, superannuation, and workers’ compensation reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance to local, state, and federal regulations, internal policies and legislation.
  • Oversee benefits administration and manage relationships with superannuation and other external benefit providers.
  • Maintain and improve payroll, reward, and benefits policies and procedures.
  • Act as the functional lead for HR systems (SuccessFactors, HumanForce), supporting data integrity, system updates, and reporting improvements.
  • Develop and maintain HR dashboards and reports, including headcount, turnover, SG&A, WSSS, leave, and absenteeism.
  • Provide data insights to support internal and regulatory reporting (e.g. WGEA, ATO) and inform business decisions.
  • Act as the reporting and data lead within the HR team, supporting analytics and quarterly workforce metrics.
  • Review, develop and implement reward strategies that align with business goals and employee engagement.

Qualifications

We’re looking for a confident and experienced HR professional who brings a mix of technical expertise, compliance knowledge, and analytical capability. You’ll thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy turning complexity into clarity for your stakeholders.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Reward and benchmarking experience an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong experience in compensation and benefits management.
  • Solid knowledge of payroll compliance, legislation, and modern awards in Australia.
  • Hands-on experience with HR and payroll systems. Ideally SuccessFactors, HumanForce, and external payroll providers (e.g. Datacom) but not a showstopper.
  • High attention to detail and advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, XLOOKUP, data modelling).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
